Before you set the price

  1. 1

Launch a new drink a little lower and think in cups, not profit per cup. People need a low first price to try something new.

Where the numbers come from
  1. Product prices: from our product pages. Hot chocolate comes in boxes of 20 sachets, coffee by the kilo, matcha by 100 g.
  2. Recipes: 175 ml milk for hot chocolate, an 18 g double shot for coffee drinks, 2.5 g of matcha a cup. Sugar at Rs 67 a kilo (August 2026).
  3. Milk at Rs 40 a litre and cups at Rs 4 to 5 are examples. Change them to your own prices.
  4. How it is worked out: cost per cup is the sum of (amount used x pack price / pack size). Cost share is cost / menu price. The price for your target is cost / target %, rounded up to the next Rs 10. Under 35% is healthy, 35 to 45% is tight, above 45% is too high.
  5. Swiggy and Zomato: typical rates (Zomato 25% commission and 1.93% payment fee, Swiggy 24% and 2%, 18% GST on those fees, 0.1% TDS). The 5% GST the customer pays is passed on, so it is not your income. Your contract may differ.
